The protest occurred before Rice testified regarding U.S. policy in the Middle East, where she spoke about Iraq, Iran and the Israel-Palestinian conflict Wednesday on Capitol Hill in Washington. Ali-Fairooz was charged with assault on a federal officer and three other counts. After she was taken outside the hearing room, Ali-Fairooz smeared her painted hands on the hallway wall. A crew of Capitol painters was dispatched to paint over the marks.
